- the Construction Industry now has the means for CDM-Cs and Principal Contractors to be properly qualified

Competence in the CDM (Construction, Design and Management) Regulations is vital for anyone involved in planning, designing, undertaking or commissioning construction work.

An invaluable aid available to those involved in construction work is the www.cdm2007.org competence learning programme, which contacts essential information on health and safety aspects of construction projects, people and organisations suitable to carry out the functions and roles identified in the CDM Regulations, and information relevant for the health and safety file. As online learning it has major advantages over other more conventional methods of delivery, for example it allows students to work at their own pace, minimising disruptions and time lost from the workplace.

www.cdm2007.org is the exclusive source of online training for the CDM2007 Award in the UK, and has assessments at the end of each module which are undertaken by all students as part of the learning process and which verify the student's achievements. Both the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the construction industry generally are looking for people able to demonstrate competence in the CDM.

CASL Management Development ("CASL") have established an active assessment centre which provides every student who has already completed the www.cdm2007.org 30 hour pre-Construction and Construction courses the opportunity to be assessed for an Award in CDM Regulations. The Award has been registered through the Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) which is regulated by the government's Office of Qualifications (Ofqual). This Award will be particularly useful to any individual nominated as a Duty Holder as per the CDM Regulations.

For the last 2 years CASL have been assessing students for the Award and for the last few months have, with www.cdm2007.org , been bringing together the details to set in place across the UK, providing proof of training for people who can demonstrate a higher level of understanding in CDM and wish to prove their competence - which sets professionals apart from others in this area. The topics covered are two mandatory units - CDM Overview and CDM Management Systems - and an optional unit from CDM Client, CDM Designer or CDM Principal Contractor. Students are able to select all options if they wish.

The awarding body ProQual, registered with Ofqual as an Awarding Organisation, is now able to certificate students wanting to receive the QCF based CDM Award. If you have already completed the pre-Construction and Construction courses then all you require is a short single module bridging course and process before being presented to ProQual to receive the CDM Award Certificate.

We are very proud to announce that www.cdm2007.org together with CASL are the only organisations current able to deliver a complete accredited training package required for full and complete assessment of the CDM Award.
