If necessary a group learning situation or programme can be designed to meet all candidates' learning needs based on a careful analysis of initial assessment information. Programmes run in a group learning situation generally have the advantage of:

• reducing costs;
• developing team spirit among the learners; and               
• being more effective for site managers and supervisors than self-study methods.

If training sessions are held throughout the NVQ programme period, they may be used to support and guide candidates in their collection of evidence.
