Geoff Hughes BEng CEng MICE (CASL Assessor)

Prior joining CASL Geoff had the role of Divisional HR Manager – Environment and Infrastructure Divisions for Costain Group PLC with HR responsibilities for approximately 1,600 staff operating throughout the UK, working in the Nuclear, Highways, Water, Waste, Rail, Marine and Airports business sectors.

Geoff has over twenty years of experience in leading and contributing to the skills and talent development within Costain Group PLC. His responsibilities have included: Graduate recruitment and training to Professional status; in-house training courses; Staff Performance Review procedures; Development of Competency frameworks; Senior Management/Director development; facilitation and Business development training needs.

Geoff's initial career was in Civil Engineering Project Management. He is a Chartered Civil Engineer.

Geoff has been involved in many areas of career development, including:

  • researching, negotiating and selecting an online talent system to host the staff Performance Review and career development review;
  • calibrating the core behavioural competency framework for approximately 600 job roles;
  • instigating the design and delivery of numerous new management development programmes;
  • facilitating over 100 workshops with up to 80 attendees;
  • acting as an Internal Consultant with Costain Group PLC on numerous assignments;
  • acting as a Supervising Civil Engineer and an ICE Professional Reviewer; and
  • active involvement on various industry working Parties and training groups within his skills and development role.
