BLACK CSCS CARD – MANAGER

The black CSCS card is now available for manager occupations in the construction industry. Candidates who achieve an NVQ or SVQ level 4 or 5 in a relevant occupation can apply for this CSCS card. The Black Card covers both the Site Manager and Senior Manager functions. The level achieved is recorded on the reverse of the card so that an employer can be sure of the level of competence achieved.

It should be noted that the NVQ has been replaced by the new Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) and the NVQ 4 is now a QCF Level 6 Diploma, and the NVQ 5 is a Level 7 QCF Diploma. However the qualifications are effectively identical. Candidates currently registered on an NVQ can continue to completion as long as the award remains live. Candidates who are approaching the end of their registration period with our centre are notified by CASL by email at address registered with CASL.

If you need a CSCS Black card you must register with an approved Assessment Centre such as CASL and once registered you can apply for the Experienced Manager Card, this will be a temporary card and last for three years. On completion of the NVQ (QCF Diploma) you can obtain the full CSCS Black card.

CSCS has recently introduced the Profiled Route which is for highly competent managers; this route requires the applicant to complete an Applicant Evidence Sheet which on completion is submitted to CSCS for Audit, CASL can help with the application by providing the Reviewer for the candidates application.

All applicants must pass the Managerial and Professional (known as MAP) Construction Skills Health & Safety test.

Candidates who have completed an NVQ (QCF Diploma) within the last two years are exempt from the health & Safety test and can apply for the CSCS Black card direct.
