CASL Management Training

Statement from E W Beard

E W Beard, a regional construction company, based in Oxford and Swindon entered into a Training Partnership Agreement with the CIOB in December 2002. The corporate objective for this initiative was to develop highly competent and commercially aware staff in all aspects of construction management.

The initiative included encouraging and supporting part qualified project managers, site managers, and general works managers who wished to attain MCIOB status by being awarded an NVQ 5.

With support from Doreen Baker, Regional Director of CIOB, the Company appointed CASL Management Training to provide on site assessment for candidates who wished to achieve an NVQ 5 in Construction Management. This award is the highest in the NVQ framework and represents an achievement equal to a post graduate academic qualification. The candidates worked over a period of approximately one year using evidence from their commercial activities to prove they met the high standards required for this award.

To date five Managers have completed the NVQ 5, passed their professional interview and have been admitted to full corporate membership of the CIOB. The award demonstrates their high level of competence in the work place. Two more have completed NVQ 5 and are preparing for their professional interview, and a further seven are nearing completion of the NVQ.

Lance Saunders, Senior Partner with CASL said ?The E W Beard trainees are one of the most motivated and committed groups I've worked with. I am also very impressed with the coaching and support they have received from their colleagues?

Roy Shergold, Human Resources Manager, said ?The professionalism and increased confidence displayed by these managers is very evident. This initiative has been, and will continue to be pivotal in our commitment to develop staff at all levels?
