Notes

1.This matrix is based on the QCA National Qualifications Framework.  To this has been a column for ?professional? awards.  (Note: In the new NQF, the distinction between ?general? and ?vocationally related? has been removed.)

2.The purpose of the matrix is to show broad relationships between the different types of award, and the progression routes between them.  The four principal categories of award ? general, vocationally related, occupational and professional ? attest to different sorts of achievement, and comparisons between awards at the same level in the matrix are indicative only.

3.The titles chosen for the three grades of professional award are also indicative; each professional institution will have its own titles.
