Management

CASL are able to offer a range of Management Business and Administration NVQ Certificates and Diplomas.

The awards cover most aspects of administration business and management and lead to a formal Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) NVQ certificate or diploma. The areas offered include Management, Principles of Management, Business and Administration, Principles of Business and Administration, Customer Service and Customer Service knowledge.

For general guidance the following should help identify the correct level for a particular job function, but CASL are always available to offer advice. The levels used below indicate the actual NVQ level but as these have been replaced by the new QCF the QCF level is included in brackets.

At Level 2 (2) Competence will involve the application of knowledge in a significant range of varied work activities, performed in a variety of contexts. Some of the activities are complex or non-routine, and there is some individual responsibility or autonomy. Collaboration with others, perhaps through membership of a work group or team, may often be a requirement.

At Level 3 (3 - 4) Competence will involve the application of knowledge in a broad range of varied work activities performed in a wide variety of contexts, most of which are complex and non-routine. There is considerable responsibility and autonomy, and control or guidance of others is often required.

At Level 4 (5 - 6) Competence will involves the application of knowledge in a broad range of complex technical or professional work activities performed in a wide range of contexts and with a substantial degree of personal responsibility and autonomy. Responsibility for the work of others and the allocation of resources is often present.

Level 5 (7) is for professionals working in senior positions with key strategic responsibilities. The award has been designed serve all senior manager practitioners, this award is relevant to all those practitioners in the sector who are working in a policy-making, director or middle/senior management capacity.

Project Management

This award is temporarily withdrawn as the Open University Awarding Body has closed its operations and is not taking new registrations. Until a new awarding body takes up these qualifications they remain unavailable. (For clarity the Open University Awarding Body is a separate entity to the University itself which continues to function).
